YOUNGWOOD, PA -- Montgomery College women's basketball yesterday captured its second straight NJCAA Region XX Division III championship, defeating Westmoreland County Community College 85-66.
Armonie Lomax was named tournament Most Valuable Player and teammates Anu Bamijoko and Seraphina Pierre-Louie named to the All-Tournament Team.
The Raptors jumped out to an early lead and were up nine at the end of the first quarter. Westmoreland fought back hard and were able to level the score at 55 heading into the final frame.
Montgomery dominated down the stretch, scoring 30 points in the fourth while allowing a the Wolfpack to score just 11.
Lomax and Bamijoko carried the team to the title, combining for 47 of the team's 85 points.
Lomax did most of her damage from behind the arc, as 18 of her game-high 25 points came off three point attempts.
Bamijoko shot an impressive 10-17 from the floor, finishing with 22 points.
