BALTIMORE CITY WINS BOTH MEN'S AND WOMEN'S MD JUCO BASKETBALL TOURNAMENTS

Baltimore City Community College won both the men’s and women’ basketball titles Sunday at Prince George’s Community College. The men defeated Montgomery College Germantown 65-57 while the women defeated Allegany 56-48. The tournament results are included on the Tournaments link under Conference Links on the home page of www.mdjuco.org.
Baltimore’s teams took different routes to the title. The men’s team was the number 9 seed and defeated #8 College of Southern Maryland 87-76, #1 Cecil 80-75 and #5 Frederick 68-61 on their way to the title game. Calvert Townes was the Tournament MVP and John Williams was also on the All Tournament Team.
Baltimore’s women were the number 1 seed and defeated #9 Frederick 65-43 and #4 Garrett on the way to the title game. Ciarra Lucas was the Tournament MVP and Tanira McClurkin was also on the All Tournament Team.
