ELEVEN MD JUCO TEAMS PUNCH TICKET TO QUARTERFINALS; 4 OTHERS RECEIVE AUTOMATIC BERTHS2/17/2010In Tuesday’s opening round play in the 2010 MD JUCO Tournament, seven men’s teams and four women’s teams advanced to the quarterfinals at Prince George’s Community College. The top four women’s teams (Baltimore, Prince George’s, Allegany and Garrett) received byes into quarterfinal play beginning Thursday. The final quarterfinal spot will be decided in a men’s game with #4 Garrett and #13 Montgomery Rockville, postponed from Tuesday due to weather.
The top three seeds on the men’s side (Cecil, Allegany and Hagerstown) all advanced, while #9 Baltimore and #11 CCBC Essex advanced with road wins. On the women’s side, #9 Frederick advanced with a road win.
