Maryland JUCO Names November Student Athletes of the Month

BALTIMORE (December 11, 2017) – The Maryland Junior College Athletic Conference (Maryland JUCO) today announced that it has selected Collin Turner (men's basketball) and Autumn Foster-Fields (women's basketball) as its Student Athletes of the Month for December 2017. 

Turner (Montgomery College | Poolesville H.S.) led the conference with 30.9 points per game in eight games during November, helping to lead the Raptors to a 6-2 start. He shot 53% from the field, hit 41.3% of his three-point attempts and made 77.8% of his free throws. On November 12 against Northern Virginia Community College (Springfield, Va.) he scored 36 points, including a pull-up jumper with one second remaining to force overtime and two free throws in the extra frame to seal a 102-99 victory.

Voted the National Junior College Athletic Association Division III Men's Basketball Player of the Week (Nov. 6-12), Turner scored 20 points or more in all eight games of the month, including a career-high 47 points on Nov. 21 at Cecil College in his team's 80-74 win. He currently leads Maryland JUCO with 32 points per game.

Foster-Fields (Anne Arundel Community College | Broadneck H.S.) registered 23.6 points per game to lead the conference in November. The leading scorer for the Riverhawks in all five November games, she scored 15 or more in each, including a career-high 30 points against Howard Community College in a 70-34 win on November 29. Foster-Fields also had three double-doubles in the opening month of the season.

During November, Foster-Fields also averaged 9.6 rebounds per game, shot 41.9% from the field and made 85.7% of her free throw attempts. Her current 23.1 points per game average leads the conference.
