The Allegany College of Maryland men's and women's basketball teams
swept the Maryland Junior College Athletic Conference (MD JUCO)
Championships at Prince George's Community College on February 22,
2009.
In the women's title game, Shannon Washington's two free throws with
10 seconds left gave top seeded Allegany a 51-50 win over third
seeded Baltimore. Tournament MVP Melissa Ford led all scorers with
20 points and added 8 rebounds. It was the second consecutive JUCO
Title for Allegany and gave them a 25-0 record entering Regional play.
In the men's title game, second seeded Allegany defeated top seeded
and undefeated Cecil 75-65. The victory ended Cecil's streak of five
MD JUCO tournament wins and was the first loss of the season for the

MD JUCO president Marc Ershler said, "Congratulations to Allegany
College of Maryland, Head Coaches Mike Baker (men’s basketball) and
Garett Sherman (women’s basketball), and Bob Kirk, Athletic
Director, on winning both Tournament Championships."
Ershler continued, "We also thank Jo Ann Todaro, Athletic Director at
Prince George’s Community College, and the entire Prince George’s
